What are the Ingredients in Seresto Dog Flea & Tick Collars?
|Flea and tick control products for dogs use several different ingredient types depending on the brand.
Seresto flea collars currently use two established flea and tick killing and prevention ingredients: Imidacloprid and Flumethrin.
This combination of two ingredients allows the Seresto collars to be an all in one product for both flea and tick control, rather than having to use two seperate products for ticks and fleas.
Imidacloprid is effective at killing fleas and preventing reinfestation.
Flumethrin is used for tick protection.
The collar can also kill lice. Dog lice (canine pediculosis) are parasites lives on dog fur and skin, causing similar symptoms to fleas (itchiness, irritation). We don’t often think about lice on dogs as much as fleas, but having this protection built into Seresto collars ensures all three types of parasites can be eliminated.
Currently the Seresto flea and tick collars for dogs are the only dog flea and tick control product that contains this combination of ingredients.
Seresto Flea and Tick Collar for Dogs should never be used on cats.
How can you tell if a dog has lice?
Lice on dogs causes some similar symptoms to fleas, so it can be difficult to tell whether your dog has lice, fleas, or both. A bad lice infestation can cause skin wounds, matted fur and dry and rough looking coat.
A close look at your dogs skin by parting the fur can reveal the lice as tiny yellow-ish to light brown insects similar to head lice in humans. A good flea control product can also kill and prevent dog lice.
